Akshay Kumar To Reunite With Good Newwz Director - Raj Mehta For A South-Remake
Akshay Kumar is all set to reunite with Raj Mehta on his third directorial, which will be produced by Karan Johar.
Akshay Kumar is one of the busiest actors in Bollywood. Since a few years now, Akki’s popularity has sky-rocketed owing to his film choices. In 2019, he delivered one of the best films - Good Newwz the same year. Directed by Raj Mehta the film went on to receive critical acclaim and appreciation from the audience.
Three years after the high concept comedy, the Khiladi Kumar is set to reunite with Raj Mehta on his third directorial, which will be produced by Karan Johar. Recent reports suggest that the upcoming project is all set to go on floors next year.
The film is expected to go on floors by January/February next year, once Akshay is done shooting for Cinderella, Oh My God 2, and Ram Setu. "The film in question is the official remake of Prithviraj's Malayalam hit, Driving License. Both Akshay and Raj absolutely loved the original film and decided to remake it for the Bollywood audience with some changes in the screenplay," a source informed Bollywood Hungama.
Meanwhile, another Pinkvilla report also mentioned that the pre-production work has already begun and the makers are exploring several locations to shoot the film, with the UK being right on top of the list. “Karan and Akshay too have a great equation and the producer is planning multiple projects with the Khiladi going forward. One of those is this Raj Mehta directorial,” the source said.
Apart from the Driving License remake, Akshay and Karan have also been discussing Dostana 2 and C Shankaran biopic, however, things are yet to come on paper as of now.
Akshay Kumar also has multiple films in the pipeline and he is currently waiting for the release of Sooryavanshi, Atrangi Re, Bachchan Pandey, amongst others. The actor is likely to start shooting for his digital debut, The End for Amazon Prime, from the month of March 2022. He also has a comedy film with Priyadarshan in the works, however owing to the actor’s busy schedule, the timelines are yet to be decided.
